The device automatically inflates and deflates the cuff while monitoring the changes in pressure oscillations, using them to calculate the systolic and diastolic pressures. 3. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM):

ABPM is a technique used to measure BP over a 24-hour period, providing a comprehensive profile of a patient's blood pressure throughout the day and night. 5. Self-monitoring of blood pressure (SMBP):

SMBP involves patients measuring their BP at home using automated BP monitors and recording the readings in a logbook. It involves inserting a catheter into an artery, usually in the radial artery, to directly measure the arterial pressure. This method provides continuous and real-time measurements, which are crucial in managing critically ill patients. Although invasive BP monitoring is highly accurate, it is associated with a higher risk of complications and is reserved for specific clinical situations where non-invasive methods may not be sufficient.
